Kenny Omega vs Hirooki Goto

NJPW G1 Climax 26 – Day 19
It’s unbelievable that Kenny Omega had a match of this magnitude less than 24 hours of his ***** classic with Tetsuya Naito the night before. The man is on a roll and this was yet another star-making performance as he won the G1 tournament in the biggest night of his career.
Omega was elevated this year to take the place of AJ Styles, and in doing so he has become the premier performer in this business with a Shawn Michaels-like drive to be the best. This match had an incredible last several minutes, with near-falls that had the crowd on edge because they knew the stakes were high. Omega was the underdog to win, and Goto could’ve pulled it off and finally broken the curse as the guy who almost makes it to the top but never quite wins it. The spot of the night was Omega piggybacking Goto on his back, and on the top rope, he fell back to the mat and broke the hold. I’ve never seen that before and it’s one that they’ll be feeling weeks from now. They pulled it off perfectly and it required good balance that could’ve easily gone awry.
Omega was unsuccessful in winning with finishing maneuvers of previous Bullet Club members, like the Styles Clash. He won it with his own move, and the place exploded. Truly an unforgettable moment and victory for a man who really deserves his time in the sun.
