Kushida vs Hiromu Takahashi
June 11, 2017
Osaka Jo Hall in Osaka, Japan
IWGP Jr Championship
The two best Japanese juniors in the world put on a clinic here, displaying a level of talent so far and above so much of what’s out there that you can’t help but watch in awe.
Kushida reached yet another career high point after winning the Super Juniors tournament, defeating Takahashi for the IWGP Jr Title in a match that met expectations. Kushida is the king of cool armbars, while Takahashi is just flat out awesome. The big spots were incredible, with Kushida turning the running sunset flip into an armbar that was really cool. They teased that sunset flip a few times, and he finally landed it, sending Kushida’s head crashing to the mats in a move that needs to BE RETIRED ASAP BEFORE IT KILLS SOMEONE.
Kushida somehow did an armbar suplex off the top rope, which was also nuts, and also won with the armbar to finally win the match and the title. During the post match celebration, Bushi came out and sprayed mist in Kushida’s face, at a moment when no one was expecting it.
