Matt Riddle & Jeff Cobb vs Walter & Timothy Thatcher
January 12, 2018
American Legion Hall in Reseda, CA
PWG Mystery Vortex
PWG Tag Team Championship
Stiff match between four great workers, resulting in a bloodied up Jeff Cobb. Matt Riddle has improved even more, if that were even possible, to where he’s so underutilized it’s ridiculous. Of course, that’s his own damn fault, as if he could just put down the damn bong, he’d be a superstar by now.
Walter is another one who should be a bigger star. Timothy Thatcher is someone I’ve seen perform live at APW long before anyone knew who he was, back in 2010. He’s only 34 but looks much older than that, although he’s also far better now than he was then. Come to think of it, I also saw Jeff Cobb back when nobody knew who he was, when he worked for local indie Premier Championship Wrestling in 2012. The knees and kicks here looked ultra stiff, even though they probably weren’t, which is an indication of a very high level of skill you will only see from guys of this caliber. Great heat as they traded moves that were nothing fancy, just brutal and well executed. Finishing sequence was terrific.
