Shuji Ishikawa vs Kento Miyahara
May 21, 2017
Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan
AJPW 2017 Super Power Series
Triple Crown Championship
This ended Miyahara’s Triple Crown reign, and it was storybook how it played out because of how great this match was. Ishikawa reminds me of Samoa Joe in look and style, a realistic, stiff offense and he even moves around like him. He’s also fairly big and thick for a Japanese wrestler, while Miyahara has all the tools. This was brutal in spots, building well to the final minutes with near falls and knees that were almost at Kenny Omega level. Strong heat throughout, and All Japan is slowly getting back on the radar thanks to matches like this, although they have lightyears to catch up before regaining their early 1990s reputation.
