Tetsuya Naito vs Kenny Omega
August 13, 2017
Sumo Hall in Tokyo, Japan
NJPW G1 Climax (Day 19)
G1 Climax Finals
Forget everything I said before; THIS may have been the greatest match I’ve ever seen!
Seriously, I’d rate it ****** and better than the Okada vs Omega match from G1. The Okada vs Omega match from Dominion was probably better because it went longer, although I’d rate this at or just slightly below the Okada vs Omega match from WrestleKingdom. That’s how f*ckin’ awesome this match was.
Who would ever think that Dave Meltzer wold UNDER-rate a New Japan match, especially when he gave it *****3/4. Everything here was so ridiculously good that I couldn’t possibly put it into words. It was 35 minutes of pure perfection, with impeccable everything and the heat, near falls, moves, reversals, bumps, and psychology were not just off the charts, but also completely off the entire radar.
And to think, Kenny Omega had just done a ****** match the night before! He somehow surpassed his performances in G1 of 2016, which I thought was impossible (Omega vs Naito from G1 was the best match of 2016, in my opinion). He’s gotta be the best in the world and possibly the best ever. How could anyone be any better than he was in this match? And Tetsuya Naito was right there with him! These two have even better chemistry than Omega and Okada, which is saying something.
Enough raving, time for me to shut up so you can watch the match.
