Tomohiro Ishii vs Seiya Sanada
March 17, 2017
Citizen Gymnasium Sub Arena in Tokorozawa, Saitama, Japan
NJPW New Japan Cup – Day 6
These two took way too much punishment for what was a glorified house show with a one-camera shoot. Seiya Sanada has possesses almost every quality to be a main event star, but is missing a stronger personality that can push him over the top. He’s got the look, size, and as this match showed, the talent and athleticism to do it all.
Tomohiro Ishii worked well again, and while he didn’t sell as well as he did the week prior with Kenny Omega, he continues to impress with the way he’s changing up his offensive arsenal to make him more than just a one dimensional brawler. Crowd was into this, and although it’s hard to watch with the one-camera angle and no commentary, it’s still great.
