Will Ospreay vs Hiromu Takahashi
May 31, 2017
Second Edion Arena in Osaka, Japan
NJPW Best of the Super Juniors (Day 12)
Believe it or not, this may have been the best I’ve ever seen Will Ospreay look. His timing and smoothness, which he always had anyway, are noticeably improved over his 2016 matches. He was simply phenomenal here, doing an array of moves too complex to even describe. Of course the problem still remains, which is that none of the moves will leave any lasting memories, because he did so many that you will forget them all. Also, his body cannot hold up to this kind of punishment for too much longer, so enjoy him while you can.
Takahashi was also excellent, except for that insane diving sunset flip over the top rope that he needs to retire ASAP before he kills someone. Really explosive match with everything you’d expect, and plenty you wouldn’t.
