Young Bucks & Omega & Cole vs Okada & Ospreay & Goto & Gedo (11-5-2016)

Young Bucks & Kenny Omega & Adam Cole vs Kazuchika Okada & Will Ospreay & Hirooki Goto & Gedo

November 5, 2016
Edion Arena in Osaka, Japan
NJPW Power Struggle

This would be a dream match in ROH. It was exactly what you’d expect, with all the fast paced spots going so quickly that you don’t have a chance to breathe and the spots end up meaning nothing.

Jim Ross said it best on his podcast, where matches like these are akin to comedians who tell so many funny jokes in rapid succession that you don’t have time to laugh at each one. Can these guys seriously just slow the f*ck down and build up to the spots so they mean something, and save their bodies in the process? There’s a reason Ospreay was wearing tape on his neck in this match, and he’s barely old enough to drink, let alone prepare himself for what should be a long and rewarding career.

The finish was perfect, as Omega needed to pin Okada to set up their Dome match. The action between the two was encouraging and their match in January should be great, but still they had too much interaction in this match that should’ve been saved for then.

Entertaining match if you can get past the complete lack of psychology. Also, while Omega is still the best worker on Earth, he does have one weakness that can be easily fixed: he oversells, and often in a fashion that makes you not take it seriously. He’s just so amped up and motivated to have the best match, and he needs to tame that energy a bit. Otherwise he’s perfect.

This match is only available on New Japan World.
